Engaging the supernatural power of love

posted in: Parchment | 0

This Parchment post is from a message by Bishop David Oyedepo at the Encounter With Destiny service held at the Faith Tabernacle on Sunday June 3, 2018.

Welcome to this first Sunday in the month of June which constitutes the beginning of the midst of the year. June and July constitute the midst of the year because there are five months at the beginning and five months at the end.

Significance of the season

Every midst of the year is ordained for the raw manifestation of the power of God. In the midst of the year, He levels out the concerns of our lives. Study Habakkuk 3:1-19 and see God’s plan for this season so that you can plug in to it. I like you to be excited because something drastic, dramatic, supernatural and unexplainable is about to burst forth in your life!

The keys to the supernatural

We live in a kingdom that operates on keys. Everything that you and I will ever need are reserved in certain stores. We need the keys to go in, pick what we need and come out. (Matthew 16:19) We need the keys to the world of the supernatural. Everyone that is redeemed of God is ordained to operate in the supernatural. It’s not for some special people or some big time pastors. Every child of God is ordained to be like the wind — the events of their lives may be unexplainable but they are undeniable. He that comes from above is above all! (John 3:8, John 3:31)

You are operating from a new realm — far above principalities and powers. (Ephesians 2:6) The far above mentality will affect the way you operate. Jesus said, “You are from beneath; I am from above: you are of this world; I am not of this world.” (John 8:23) And as the Father sent Jesus, so has Jesus sent us. (John 20:21)

Ours is a huge and gigantic kingdom. There is a key that opens every door and there is a master key that opens all other doors. In our Sunday services in the month of June 2018 we’ll be looking at the master key that launches men into the world of the supernatural under the title: Engaging the supernatural power of love.

Love is the master key

Everything that works in the kingdom works by love. It is by faith that we overcome the challenges of life and faith works by love. (Galatians 5:6) We cannot enjoy true prosperity without giving and giving works by love. (1 Corinthians 13:3) Revelation comes by love. Our insights will never exceed the limit of our love for God. (John 8:32, John 15:15)

Everything that works in the kingdom works by love. That makes it the master key. Apostle Paul put it clearly when he said that all things work to the advantage of them that love God. (Romans 8:28) If you get it today it shows tomorrow. You can’t have a genuine love for God and not make great mark on the earth.

Jesus said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it, you shall love your neighbour as yourself. (Matthew 22:37-40)

Revelation comes by love. Our insights will never exceed the limit of our love for God. (John 8:32, John 15:15) HT @DavidOyedepoMin @ft_Canaanland #MyNewDawnEra #EncounterWithDestiny Click To Tweet

Everything is hinged on love. The love of God is the master key that launches the believer into the realm of the supernatural. This master key that you’re receiving here afresh today will never drop off your hands in Jesus’ name.

The proof of love

Now, love is not theoretical; it is validated by biblical proofs. (2 Corinthians 8:8, 1John 3:18) The capital proof of our love for God is our love for souls. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son. (John 3:16) The son so loved the lost that He gave His life. (John 10:17-18). If we so love God we must so love the lost in such a way as to get them saved.

When Peter said, “I love you Jesus” Jesus said to him, “Prove it!” Three times, Jesus asked him to take care of souls. (John 21:15-17)This shows that our love for souls is the capital proof of our love for God.

Everything that works in the kingdom works by love. That makes it the master key. You can’t have a genuine love for God and not make great mark on the earth.

Some people will say that the sheep are people who are already saved and in church. But remember that Jesus said, “And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.” (John 10:16)

These other sheep are people who are ordained to salvation but who have never had anyone mention it to them. (Acts 13:48) “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10:14)

God wants all men saved. (John 10:17-18, 1Timothy 2:4, 2 Peter 3:9) If we truly love God, then we must also seek to have all men saved. If we don’t love what He loves, then we don’t love Him. God wants us to go and win souls. (John 15:16, Luke 15:7)

There is no kind of building that any church can build — or that anyone can build because of their heart for God — that compares with the salvation of one soul. There is no amount of money you can give that stirs joy in heaven. There is only joy in heaven when a soul gets saved.

The love of God will distinguish you

With the master key, you are at peace in your health, your work, your finances, your family — everywhere. Whatever cannot upset God cannot upset you because he that dwells in love dwells in God. (1John 4:16) The apostle Paul said, “Even though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast about because necessity is laid on me. Woe unto me if I do not preach the gospel.” (1Corinthians 9:16, 20-22).

The capital proof of our love for God is our love for souls. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son. (John 3:16) The son so loved the lost that He gave His life. (John 10:17-18). If we so love God we must so love the lost.

He went all the way and did all he could to get people saved by all means. He was living a ‘by all means lifestyle’ going after souls. He was witnessing to the great and small. (Acts 26:22) This is a topmost apostle going passionately after souls. Where are the other apostles? They disappeared with their titles!

If you see the prayers that even new converts are praying for me when I go out, you will be wondering. Soulwinning is not something reserved for children and it’s not about pastor sending people out to preach. You must be on the go for Jesus and He will see to it that you are well taken care of. (Luke 22:35)

I’m telling you my testimony to the glory of Jesus, I have never had to beg. When the church was 4, I never begged. I never begged when we were 10 and when we were 1000. Begging and financial struggles end in your life today!

To the glory of God, there is no one dime of any foreign nation or any government institution in this commission. You don’t even have the chance to do it because I won’t take it. Government comes, government goes, this ministry has remained strong. Nothing has ever gone down in this commission because the covenant is stronger than any harsh climate. No situation in life will be able to stop you henceforth, in Jesus’ name.

When our love is perfected we are filled with all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:17-19) But love is a choice, not a gift. As you carry this kingdom task in your heart, all these things that others are dying to get, — things that will make you greater than Solomon — will be added to you. (Matthew 6:29-33)

The way to maintain the supernatural naturally is to maintain the love of God in our heart. But we need our love to be powered; otherwise it won’t take us far. In spite of Peter’s professed love for Jesus, he denied him thrice. He was even swearing and cursing to affirm that He did not know Jesus. (Matthew 26:69-70-74) That is how far unpowered love can take you. You need the power of the Holy Spirit to love. (Romans 5:5, 2 Timothy 1:7) Receive afresh an enduement of that spirit of love today!

Soul winning is God’s number one interest on the earth and commitment to the same makes a star of any believer. Destiny in the kingdom is not a destination, it is an adventure. You are moving from one level to another. The love of God enables us to keep changing levels. When you look at the life of apostle Paul you will find that he was just changing levels. (Acts 14:11, Acts 19:12, Acts 19:14-15). He was so distinguished that even other apostles found it difficult to understand some of the things he said. (2Peter 3:15-16) That is what the love of God can make of a man.

The supernatural virtue flows through the channel of love. Praying over anyone that you’re compassionate about releases the supernatural virtue. (Matthew 14:14) We had a testimony of how someone whose two kidneys had collapsed was restored to fullness of life when we prayed over him. Every prayer prayed with compassion provokes the flow of the healing virtue. (John 11:35-36, 44)

Characteristics of love for God

The Bible makes it clear that faith can fail, tongues can cease and knowledge may not hold water in some circumstances but love never fails. Let’s see some of the characteristics of love.

1. Love never fails

Our love for God is a failure-proof virtue. The hotter your love for God, the farther we are from failure because you become filled with the fullness of God and God can never fail. What the love of God does is to make a god of the believer.

For 37 years in this ministry we have never smelt failure. Every true lover of God supernaturally lives above failure. I will never be able to explain how we built this place; I only watched Him do it. With the love of God growing hotter in your soul, you are ordained to live above failure all the days of your life.

2. It makes you indestructible

In Daniel 3:22-27 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the furnace unscathed. Yet, even the people that threw them in could not survive the heat. The love of these three Hebrews was strong in the face of harassment of the devil. (Song of Songs 8:6, 1John 4:16)

God manifested Himself to them as the consuming fire, the fire that consumes fires. They possessed a yielded body that not even a fiery furnace could destroy. The love of God converts your mortal body into a supernatural body. That makes you indestructible.

3. It provokes supernatural breakthroughs

When you’re in love you’re in command of supernatural breakthroughs. What eyes have not seen nor ears heard become your natural experience in life. “As it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” (1Corinthians 2:9)

4. It empowers our dedication to Christ which is our gateway to distinction in life.

Dedication is the gateway to distinction and multiplication. Just as a seed that remains alone when it is unplanted but expresses its full potential when it is committed to the earth, so are we in our service to God. (John 12:24-26, Mark 4:31-32) Being dedicated to the cause of God entitles you to honour.

Your decision determines your destiny

It begins with a choice — living your life out for God and leaving Him with the rest. Ever since I made that choice on September 12, 1976 it has been a life of continuous progress. God says, “Do this one thing and I do all the others.”

With the love of God growing hotter in your soul, you are ordained to live above failure all the days of your life.

With your demonstrated love for God by your proven passion for the lost, what eyes have not seen nor ears heard shall become the order of the day in your life. Dedication will distinguish you any day, anytime, anywhere. Supernatural breakthrough follows dedication, it follows our heart for God.

Please note that our destiny in the kingdom is an adventure, not a destination. It’s not a point, it’s not a location but a journey. We have a most elastic destiny in Christ. (Deuteronomy 28:1) Everything in the law is fulfilled in Christ. (Matthew 5:17, Proverbs 4:18) That makes our destiny in the kingdom an adventure and not a destination. We are redeemed to change levels more and more until Jesus returns. Every year, a quantum leap!

From Abraham we understand that our destiny is as far as our eyes can see. (Genesis 13:14-15) In those days, poverty was what the church saw and we had lots of it. We believed that sickness was God’s way of teaching us a lesson. And that was what we got. When we saw prosperity, prosperity came back! When we saw health, health came back.

As long as your heart is panting after God you cannot miss your mark on the earth. God will do anything to preserve anyone on a rescue mission for Him.

In those days, nobody would design churches with parking lot because there’s nothing to park but things began to open up as light began to open up. Just as it happened with prosperity and health, the church has now seen that our time with God is 120 years.

We have a generation emerging now that will still be in their office at 100 and talking sense. I saw our long life heritage in 1986 when I wrote the book, Power Over Death. I saw the utter weakness of death in the light of redemption.

In 1982 I saw that the path of the just shines more and more, not more or less. And I vowed never to have a better yesterday. It is as far as your eyes can see. Everyone of us in the kingdom of God carries greater potential than all the saints of the Old Testament put together. (Matthew 11:11)

We discover from the Scriptures that we have a growing destiny in redemption. As we behold him as in a mirror, we are being transformed from glory to glory. (2Corinthians 3:18, James 1:22). The mirror is the word of God. By revelation our destiny continues to change levels. I decree in the name of Jesus your unstoppable change of levels in life. Every encounter in the word opens a new chapter to your life. (Genesis 12:3, Genesis 22:18.)

How do I encounter my new chapters in destiny?

1. Be filled with the spirit, which begins with baptism in the Holy Spirit. (John 16 :12-14) God opens new chapters to us by showing us what is ahead. We will be limited in access without being filled with the Holy Spirit. (Romans 8:16, 1Corinthians 2:14) It is the spirit of God that grants us access to the things of God. When you’re filled with the Holy Spirit, you’re alive 24/7. You will connect with God’s agenda per second.

2. Be spiritually sensitive (Revelation 1:10)

3. Remain in love (Genesis 18:17, John 15:15)

4. Be a man or woman of prayer
You access your next levels in many cases on the altar of prayer. (Jeremiah 33:3)

Every child of God is a child of destiny. Everyone of us has a growing destiny in Christ. May your destiny in Christ never be stagnated again. May your growing destiny in Christ be a living destiny.

Lift up your hands and give God thanks!

Every encounter in the word opens a new chapter to your life. (Genesis 12:3, Genesis 22:18.) -HT @DavidOyedepoMin @FT_Canaanland #MyNewDawnEra Click To Tweet

Invitation

A broken part of any tree is dead; it’s only a matter of time. If you’re reading this and you want to turn to Jesus or rededicate your life to Him, pray this prayer with me:

Lord Jesus I surrender my life to you today, forgive me of my sins. Wash me with your precious blood. I believe you died for me. On the third day you rose again that I might be justified. Right now, I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. I believe that I am justified and restored to God. I am born again. Thank you Jesus for saving me.
